Farmhouse is your opening chapter loop: clear enough hay to make cash, use that cash to improve the work that slows you down, then stop clearing hay when you find the needle and take it to the farmer.
Start the Farmhouse round
Choose FARMHOUSE in the create menu and keep NORMAL selected. Set Party Size, then choose CREATE. Use the chapter directory when you need to compare this location with Basement.
Collect hay and make cash
Aim at the hay and press the left mouse button to collect it. Work in small patches so you can see what opens. When you have hay to trade, take it to the cow and exchange it for cash. A first batch of 25 is a useful example, not a required amount.
If your bag fills, sell before collecting more. An early example uses $0.01 per hay and $0.25 for a full 25-hay turn-in. The early example lists a first Speed purchase at $0.23. Use the values on your own menu if they differ.
Choose an upgrade for the problem you see
Press Tab after the cow exchange to view upgrades. Compare the choices instead of following a fixed order. Grasp can increase how much hay you collect at once. Bag can reduce trips back to sell. Hold can reduce repeated mouse presses. A later Pitchfork can take a larger forkful and leave a dent in the pile.

Search and hand over the needle
Return to the hay in small blocks. Pause after opening a patch and scan the fresh space before moving again. The needle can be visible while hay remains, so switch to searching as soon as you spot it instead of clearing every pile.
